The Jason Foundation
Founded in October of 1997, The Jason Foundation, Inc. (JFI) has quickly become a leader in the fight against the "Silent Epidemic" of youth suicide.
Currently, suicide is the THIRD leading cause of death for young people ages 15-24. JFI estimates that we are loosing approximately 100 young people EACH WEEK to suicide in our nation. In fact, we have lost more young people to suicide in our nation over the past twelve years than the total of American lives that were lost during the entire Vietnam war.
The Jason Foundation's corporate office is located in Hendersonville, TN. JFI programs are in use in forty-six states and three foreign countries. JFI's programs are used in a "triangle" approach of prevention by addressing young people, parents and educators (youth workers) with resources concerning the Awareness and Prevention of youth suicide.
Phillip Fulmer, head football coach at the University of Tennessee, has served as JFI's National Spokesperson since May of 1998. Coach Fulmer's involvement has directly influenced the success of JFI's programs and the Phillip Fulmer Golf Classic is a major fundraiser for the foundation's programs.
